The aim of this project is to establish a biobank of samples from different skin diseases. The samples stored in the biobank will be freely accessible for ethically approved scientific projects of all SKINTEGRITY members. The material will be obtained from the Department of Dermatology and the Department of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery of the University Hospital Zurich.

Surplus material from chronic and acute wounds, skin cancers (squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and melanoma) and also healthy skin will be collected and will be used in part to extract cells for further biochemical, “-omics” and molecular studies. Part of the material will be stored as paraffin or cryo blocks for histochemical analysis.
